I am now away for a little over a week, so I’ve dug into my photo archives and set up some scheduled daily posts.
This first one is quite a commonly photographed scene; it’s the huge clock face in the Musée D’Orsay in Paris.

Cesc Fabregas’s shirt hangs in the home changing room at the Emirates Stadium. Maybe he will be the new star now that Henry has left, or will he follow him to Spain?
I was really pleased with the way the colours came out so strong on this shot.

Last week my company held a conference at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, which was the perfect opportunity to try out my new wide-angle lens for the first time.

The whole crowd was dancing along at the Carnival de Cuba, but I concentrated on close-ups; nobody seemed to mind me pointing my camera at them.

This is the drummer in an impromptu band at the Carnival de Cuba in Southwark Park last weekend. I think it has a very Cuban feel, and I love those colours in the woman’s dress in the background.
The image was slightly too dark, so I used the Exposure tool in Photoshop to make it one stop lighter. I also de-saturated the red slightly.

These blocks of flats occupy an area just to the back of Aldgate station; I like the composition they form.

I shot these bottles at Borough Market a couple of weekends ago… the light in there is very difficult to expose for and I only ended up with one or two half-decent shots.

I thought this scene had a very American feel; actually it’s in central London.

I try not to post too many shots of graffiti (there are several specialist blogs around), but I did particularly like this one. Again, it’s on the old Truman Brewery off Brick Lane. I don’t know what it signifies; I’d like think it’s a slogan associated with veganism, but maybe it’s a brand name or a band name?

At the moment, this building resembles a large cube balanced on a smaller cube, but eventually it will become the Cheesegrater. You can just see the Gherkin reflected in it.

These buildings are in Chalk Farm Road, Camden, but the colours reminded me straight away of La Boca in Buenos Aires.

I snapped this on my way home from work last night. It had been left on the seat opposite me. The sharpness isn’t great as the light on the train was poor and even at an ISO of 1600 I needed a shutter speed of 1/13.
I took the postcard home with me; it appears to be a ‘real’ postcard and not something from a travel magazine or newspaper and, in case you’re wondering, it shows Kovalam Beach in Kerala, India.

This is the well-known bridge near Camden market; I waited for a bus to pass underneath to try to get a diagonal ‘half-and-half’ composition.

I spotted this guy getting on a bus in The Strand, and thought it was quite amusing. He gave the impression that walking around with a parrot on your shoulder is an everyday occurance in London.

Rossi’s is quite a well known ice cream maker and seller in the Southend area of Essex. This is one of their kiosks on the seafront in Westcliff.

Whilst out taking some shots in the Essex countryside the other day, I passed an isolated row of neat, terraced village houses. They struck me as very stereotypically English homes, summed up by the very English chimneys and net curtains.

Here I’ve tried to sum up the tourists that are nearly always to be found around Tower Hill station… top: taking a picture of the Tower of London, and bottom: at the Tower Hill Sundial.
I think this is a bit of a change from my usual style of shot; I’d like to try more of it though.
