Watching the Cricket

8243500.jpg

This was shot at a cricket match back in August; I meant to post it at the time (alongside this shot) but for some reason it slipped through. It’s a shame about the chairs at the top left of the frame; I could have cloned them out but decided to leave them as they are. The shutter speed is so fast because I was playing around with aperture priority at the time.

L’Oréal

I liked the contrast between the old building and the modern posters at this hairdressers in Rochford, Essex.

Sale Sale Sale Sale

00010008501.jpg

I’m not quite sure why there are four ’sale’ signs in this window, as it appeared to be a residential house rather than a shop. Rochford, Essex.

Waterloo Sunset

9380500.jpg

Another shot looking east from Waterloo Bridge at sunset on Friday. I’m not sure what the two taller tower blocks are, but you can just see the tip of the Oxo Tower on the left. I love the sun reflected in the building, and the smooth, graduated sky.

Waterloo Bridge/Victoria Embankment on Friday evening. I had a couple of versions and couldn’t decide which one to post, but settled on this one — the other one can be viewed here. Which one do you prefer?

The Rugby World Cup Final…

With all the hype surrounding tonight’s match, I thought I’d keep it simple… grassroots rugby at the local park.

Frieze Art Fair

Last week on the VIP opening day of the Frieze Art Fair in London’s Regent’s Park; there were lots of people milling around waiting to get in, so it was great for people-watching.

Pigeon Pose

9147500.jpg

I still feel uneasy about taking shots of strangers on the street, although I am getting braver. I think it is important to be upfront and honest about taking a picture, and not try to get a ’sneaky’ shot. This couple could quite clearly see me with the camera, so I feel OK with it. They were having a really fun time posing with the pigeons in Trafalgar Square.

Admiring Nelson

9186501.jpg

This is the first of a few shots I took whilst killing an hour or so in Trafalgar Square last Friday evening. This girl seemed like she was waiting for someone, but she spent a long time looking up at Nelson and so gave me time to compose a shot.

A child’s toy abandoned outside a nearby country pub. To me, the peeling paint and smiling face makes it look almost sinister.
