Lookout

9938500.jpg

More from sunny Southend-on-Sea. The tiny speck of colour you can see on the horizon is this boat.

Weymouth and Mansfield Mews

014601423381.jpg

These two work far better side by side, but the maximum width possible on this site is far too small, so I’ve had to show them one after another.

Both Canon 400D, ISO 400, focal length 50mm; top: 1/160sec, f/3.5; bottom: 1/200sec, f/4

Tower Block

I seem to be developing a bit of a liking for this kind of composition (see here, here, here, here and here!!) — must try to be a little more creative in future!

Work In Progress #5

6642500.jpg

Back in August I posted a few images from a morning I spent shooting at my local tattoo studio. I’ve only recently got around to editing the rest of them — this is the first of four more posts.

The Big Issue

0134505.jpg

OK, I know this isn’t a particularly imaginative portrait on my part, but it’s only the second time ever that I’ve been brave enough to ask someone I don’t know if I can take their photograph (the other occasion being this one).

More on the Big Issue here.

A Walk In The Park

But can you spot the man out for a stroll in this picture? ;-)

Autumn Leaves

0088500.jpg

A deserted Regent’s Park yesterday lunchtime — the weather has taken a turn for the worse since I shot this one in the same park a couple of weeks ago.

The Wizard of Oz

4110505.jpg

This is an archive image that I shot about a year ago. It shows four posters on the wall of our local theatre in Westcliff, which at the time had closed down due to lack of funds and was re-opening with this pantomime. It has remained open ever since.

Lost

A second archive shot from the Brecon Beacons. It looks set-up, but it isn’t — we were actually lost!

Cribyn

00003501.jpg

I’m a little behind in editing my recent images, so I’m delving into my archives for a couple of days.

This was taking a couple of years ago, and I’m pretty sure it’s Cribyn, as approached from Pen y Fan, in the Brecon Beacons, south Wales.

Rainbow Sails

9968500.jpg

Southend seafront this afternoon.

I’ve cheated a little (something I’ve never done before on this photoblog - honest!) by adding a fake lens flare afterwards in Photoshop, to add interest to the sky.

Autumn Abstract

It’s not often that we get blue skies like this in November, so I’m making the most of it.

St Pancras International

9837505.jpg

The new £800m Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International, officially opened by the Queen on Tuesday. From next week, high speed trains will run between here and France and Belgium.

Unfortunately the main terminal isn’t yet open to the public, so my choice of shots was somewhat restricted. Top: detail from the beautifully restored glass roof; and bottom: A Eurostar train ready and waiting on the new platform.

Manchester United Photocall

9631503.jpg

I think I’m getting a little braver with these kinds of shots, although my comments here apply to this image too.

This family were posing by a Man Utd team photo in a shop window on Carnaby Street; it’s a shame you can’t quite see that the woman in the foreground is holding a camera.

I took this image and the previous two as part of a Way We See It series; click here to see thumbnails.
