Good Shepherd of Marylebone

At lot of my shots have the subject placed in the centre, contrary to the “rules” of composition. I tried composing differently this time, but still preferred the centred shot.
There’s another composition here… please tell me which one you prefer.
It’s the Church of the Good Shepherd and the St Mary-le-bone Church Institute and Club in Marylebone.
Canon 400D, 1/200sec, f/4, ISO 800, focal length 10mm

I do like this version better as the man in the other shot is ‘touching’ the fence — and perhaps, if the camera had captured more of what was happening to the right and downwards, and he was given a bit more room to walk, it could have worked. He seems a bit ‘truncated’.
I think centred compositions can definitely work especially when there’s a classic symmetry going on. It would be perfect if she were facing you (or the church) rather than to the side so she could also be symmetrical, but it’s still good
